Our Story
JRS was founded by John Richardson, after more than 35 years working in school estates and design.
John began his career at Kent County Architects in 1982, building an exceptional understanding of the educational landscape across the South East. Over decades, he developed something you can’t learn from a manual — deep, practical insight into how schools actually operate.
He founded JRS to focus solely on what he cares about most: supporting schools with practical, tailored building and compliance solutions.
Today, JRS is a trusted School Estates Consultancy in Kent, supporting primary schools, secondary schools, special schools and Multi-Academy Trusts with building compliance and project management.

JOHN RICHARDSON, DIRECTOR
With 35+ years in school design and facilities management, John brings unrivalled knowledge of school estates across the South East.
A Fellow Member of the IET and ECA Associate Member, John combines technical expertise with practical, site-specific advice. He is passionate about building long-term partnerships with schools — working alongside leadership teams to create environments where staff can thrive and pupils can learn without disruption.

Claire brings something unique to JRS: first-hand leadership experience inside schools.
With over a decade in education — including roles as Head of School, SENCO and DSL — she understands the real pressures school leaders face balancing compliance, safeguarding and pupil needs.
Claire ensures every decision we support is viewed through a child-first lens. She builds genuine partnerships with schools, working with them, not just for them.
